Come down to the 'Shoe this Wednesday evening - All Hank , All Night - many guest singers on the bill - John Borra, Laura Hubert, Teddy Fury, Tim Bradford, Tom Parker, Jamie Oliver, Marco DiFortuna, Bazil Donovan, Joanna Morra, Michael Brennan, Jonathan Billings. Hank's band The Drifting Cowboys will be backing all these wonderful artists as well as Ol' Hank himself.

New Bomb Turks announce Toronto show with The Drowns on July 29th!

Eric Davidson and his Columbus punk crew return to Toronto for a show at the Horseshoe July 29 – tickets on sale Thursday (March 27) at 10 am.

Here's the scoop...

Columbus punk legends The New Bomb Turks are bringing their raw, high-voltage garage punk to Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on July 29th!  Formed in 1990 at Ohio State, these underground icons have been fusing prole-threat punk, destructo-rock, and garage chaos for over three decades. 

Joining them are Seattle’s street-punk powerhouse The Drowns, who just unleashed their latest album, Blacked Out. With a sound that fuses 50s rock ‘n’ roll, 70s glam, and ’77 punk, they’re keeping the fire burning for the working class and the die-hard rockers.

This one’s gonna be loud, fast, and unforgettable. Don’t sleep!

Daily Bread Food Bank Benefit w/ Handsome Dick Manitoba @ The Horseshoe, Sunday

Handsome Dick Manitoba makes a rare Toronto appearance at The Horseshoe tonight to help out the Daily Bread Food Bank. 

Legendary Dictators front man Handsome Dick Manitoba is coming to Toronto to help out Bob Muck's benefit bash for The Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank. HDM is like a Punk Rock Santa!!!

From Bob Muck:

"Great things usually start in small ways; a friendly hello, a fun chat and then, suddenly, a new friendship. That's what happened with Handsome Dick Manitoba and me. Before we knew it we were talking about Dick coming to Toronto for a Christmas visit. It made sense that we put on a show for his many Toronto fans.

"Maybe it was the spirit of Christmas that convinced us a charity show to help the many who are struggling in Toronto was best. Dick agreed and a plan was set in motion.

"What happened next was truly incredible. Great people like the good folks at The Horseshoe Tavern, Gerry Finn of The Killer Dwarfs, Stacy Stray of The Intergalactic Rock Stars, Dave McMillan and Chuck Keeping of Big Wreck, A Bunchoffuckinggoofs and SAF all stepped up to pitch in. My wife Nancy and I are blown away by their generosity and kindness. We can't thank them enough!

"The show will be on the 22nd of December at The Horseshoe (doors at 7:30 pm). The cost of admission will be a cash contribution to The Daily Bread Foodbank. Here's a rare chance to experience Goblin's creepy cool giallo horror classics from Dario Argento's Suspiria, Demons, Tenebre, etc played by the master himself.

"Composer Claudio Simonetti has written and recorded some of the most influential scores and soundtracks in horror, including Suspiria, Dawn of the Dead, Deep Red / Profondo Rosso, Demons, Tenebre and many others, with his seminal work still informing the genre to this day. This year, Simonetti's Goblin celebrates Claudio's amazing career with ANTHOLOGY, a live performance spanning his career and highlighting all the "best of" songs and scores"

Handsome Family hit the Horseshoe on Oct 10th – new album on the way!

Here's the scoop on "Hollow"...

The Handsome Family’s new record began with a scream in the night. “It was a bleak winter during the middle of the pandemic,” says Brett Sparks. “One night around 4 a.m. Rennie started screaming in her sleep. She screamed, ‘Come into the circle Joseph! There’s no moon tonight.’ Scary as it was, I thought, man, that’s a good chorus!”

The Handsome Family (songwriting and marriage partners Brett and Rennie Sparks) have been defining the dark end of americana for over 30 years. Brett writes the music and Rennie writes the words. Their work has been covered by many artists including Andrew Bird, Blue Man Group and most-recently Phoebe Bridgers. Their song “Far From Any Road” was the opening theme for HBO’s True Detective season one and still receives thousands of Shazams every week from all over the world.

Handsome Family songs take place under overpasses and inside airports. Historical figures like George A. Custer and Nikola Tesla appear alongside a flying milkman and the whisper of an air conditioner against a plastic tree.

Their eleventh studio album, Hollow (out Sep. 8, 2023) delves into the natural world at the edges of the man-made. It is a record lush with leaves and shadows and ing with occult mystery. Check out the first three songs "Joseph." "Skunks" and "The King Of Everything" below.
