Blues guitar slinger Mighty Joe Young cut a few crossover soul gems early on, including "Suffering Soul." Have a listen. |
Here's the scoop from Secret Stash...
"Before he became a blues legend, Mighty Joe Young cut a series of records for Bill Lasley's family of labels (including the Chicago-based Webcor Records) – that showcased his versatility beyond the blues. These tracks, many of which veer straight into R&B and even soul territory, offer a glimpse of Young's early musical exploration.
"'Something's Wrong' is a semi-sweet midtempo number that highlights Young's soulful vocals, while 'Suffering Soul' is a dark, haunting R&B rocker that will send shivers down your spine. Both tracks are exceptional, but "Suffering Soul" is a particular standout and one of our all-time favourites."
