Garage & soul screamer Barrence Whitfield – backed by his Soul Savage Arkestra – channels the Saturnian ruler of the omniverse with a soul-tripping exploration of Sun Ra favorites—from the explosive “Nuclear War” to the shimmering exotica of “Love In Outer Space” to the Funkadelicized "Everything Is Space."
The new Songs From The Sun Ra Cosmos album (out May 3) was cut for Modern Harmonic by Kevin Gray with initial copies pressed on gold vinyl at Third Man in Detroit. The liner notes were penned by Irwin Chusid and Brother Cleve. Check out Sun Ra's own versions of "I'm Gonna Unmask The Batman" and "Muck Muck" which sound like they could've been voiced by Barrence Whitfield.
