"Aerial Troubles" is off the new Stereolab album "Instant Holograms on Metal Film" out May 23. Watch the video below.

The song "Aerial Troubles" is taken from the new Stereolab album Instant Holograms On Metal Film, out May 23rd  on Duophonic UHF Disks and Warp Records.

The video for "Aerial Troubles" was conceptualized and directed by the digital artist Laurent Askienazy.

Stereolab's Tim Gane first became aware of Laurent’s photographs over twenty years ago and has remained a fan as Laurent became an early adopter of using computer generated imagery to produce his art. 

Laurent made the video for Aerial Troubles using AI as a tool - creating images, looking for ways to animate and manipulate them, finally assembling them and generating sequences.

This process includes slow motion, repetition and overall rhythm, just like a traditional editing process.

Stereolab are previewing the September 2nd release of the fifth volume of their Switched On compilation series with "Robot Riot"

Stereolab announce the fifth in their ‘Switched On’ series of compilation albums, ‘Pulse Of The Early Brain [Switched On Volume 5]’ with the track ‘Robot Riot’.

"Robot Riot" was originally written for a sculpture made by Charles Long - an artist that Stereolab  had previously collaborated with on 1995s  ‘Music For The Amorphous Body Study Center’ project. Flowers of Hell to issue covers album in October

Trans-Atlantic experimental orchestra The Flowers of Hell have announced that their fourth album will be an orch-pop covers project called Odes set for release on October 2 via Optical Sounds. A significant departure from the Flowers of Hell's typical dreamscapes, Odes will feature conventional verse-chorus structures as you might expect from the repertoire selected from the work of Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Siouxie & The Banshees, Klaatu, Stereolab, Fleetwood Mac, Plastic People Of The Universe and Joy Division whose classic tune Atmosphere (see the animated video clip below) is the lead off track. The group is launching the album in Toronto at the Tranzac on Friday September 21.
