| Montreal's Gruesomes' first new album in 25 years, The Dimension Of Fear (Soundflat) will be on sale at The Horseshoe tonight. |
This exciting release on Germany's Soundflat Records is THE GRUESOMES' first full-length album since 2000's Cave-In and coincides with the group's 40th anniversary.
Formed in Montreal in 1985, the GRUESOMES quickly rose to prominence in Canada's underground music scene despite being teenagers with zero musical experience. With a love of garage music and 60's TV shows, they built an identity based on youthful rock and roll, delivered with humor and fun. Performing countless shows and featured on television and radio in Canada, THE GRUESOMES' solidified an enduring underground legacy in their home country. The rise of the Internet saw a new wave of interest, this time from abroad when, to their surprise, the band was enthusiastically welcomed in Europe where they were known and appreciated.
Packed shows in Europe, the USA and Mexico have proven that THE GRUESOMES are still a band in demand - 40 years later! 'The Dimension Of Fear' features ten all-new original GRUESOMES songs as well as three well-chosen covers from the band's current live repertoire. The music builds on the legacy of their previous albums such as Gruesomania and Cave-In! with catchy fuzz riffs, wailing harmonica, maracas-shaking R&B, snotty vocals and plenty of angst-filled lyrics, all delivered with charm and a youthful perspective.
All four members of THE GRUESOMES have been playing together since 1987. It is a testament to their close friendship and the reason why 'The Dimension of Fear' will sound instantly familiar to those who know and love the band. As for those just discovering the band, 'The Dimension of Fear' is also a great place to start – it's authentic 100% GRUESOMES.
