Isao Suzuki & The New Family's 1980 album "Mongolian Chant" getting reissued

Paul Murphy's JazzRoom Records is recirculating Isao Suzuki's sought-after "Mongolian Chant" album on vinyl December 12th and Dr. Bob Jones is delighted!

Here's the scoop from Dr. Bob Jones...

"There's a goodie on the way from Paul Murphy's iconic JazzRoom Records on December 12th – 'Mongolian Chant' from bassist Isao Suzuki & New Family that features amongst others, two of Japan's top Jazz Artists Toshiyuki Honda (Saxophones & Flute) & Shigeharu Mukai.( Trombone) The album is a big want with collectors worldwide, of Jazz from Japan. The original from 1980 is pretty rare & hard to find & will set you back £250-300, if you can find one. The title track is a fast Free Jazz Fusion Dancer that really kicks in around 5 mins & "Falcon" will tick all the boxes with the dancers who love their jazz fast & furious. Yes Jazz Family, you need this, you know you do. Another superb release from JazzRoom Records."  - Dr. Bob Jones

DUSTY GROOVE SAYS: "A really inventive little record from Japanese bassist Isao Suzuki -- and a set that, like most of his best 70s work, really defies any sort of easy categorization! Suzuki's got a wonderfully wide range of ideas running through his music -- at one level a really close-up and personal interpretation of the bass that makes for some beautiful solos (including work on piccolo bass too) -- but at another, a wider group vision that has the instruments coming together in unexpected ways, with really creative rhythms that definitely keep things fresh. There's a bit of electricity at points, giving some fusion inflections to some tunes -- yet in ways that are quite different than regular fusion records -- and the album features guest work from Shigeharu Mukai on trombone and Toshiyuki Honda on soprano sax and flute.”

NOTE: THIS IS A LIMITED EDITION VINYL ONLY RELEASE.
