Built To Spill's disco auto-remix

Perhaps disappointed with the lack of throwback synth-pop acts covering classic Built To Spill tunes 80s style, BTS singer dude Doug Martsch and bassist Brett Nelson have taken matters into their own hands and formed the Electronic Anthology Project – a synthetically twerked Built To Spill tribute unit – to demonstrate how it should be done. And really, would you expect anything less from the self-proclaimed Ultimate Alternative Wavers?
In advance of the self-titled CD release, EAP's first three entertainingly retro sounding joints complete with melodramatic vocals and "futuristic" keyboard squelchery punctuated by old-school drum machine hand-claps have recently appeared on their myspace page (see link below) with clever anagram titles, including Eels (a cover of Else from BTS's Keep It Like A Secret album), What If Your Dull (aka I Would Hurt A Fly off of Perfect From Now On) and Age I Felt (aka Get A Life from Ultimate Alternative Wavers). Clearly, Doug and Brett have far too much time on their hands.
The seven-song EAP recording is being sold with a suitably generic sleeve art as a tour disc at upcoming Built To Spill shows with a full release projected for later this year. But if you're not planning to see them at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey this Friday (August 6), MP3 versions of the seven tracks are available from CD Baby right here.
