“I’m really excited to take part in this year’s Summer Thing: Downtown Edition for Wavelength! Wavelength Summer Thing is back - by the lake!

This annual celebration returns to SummerSeries in Trillium Park for two full days of live music. Ranging from indie folk to psychedelic electronica to poetic hip-hop, Canadian creativity is on full display.

This FREE weekend of fun transforms Trillium Park with Wavelength’s signature immersive art and installations. Enjoy delicious food vendors, interactive activities, a mobile sauna, and an indie market by the gorgeous waterfront park and lush greenery.

"Summer Thing is coming up on Saturday August 9th! The last time I DJ’d Wavelength was at Sneaky Dee’s upstairs close to 20 years ago — playing Britpop, indie and post punk on CD 💿. I’ll be spinning soulful summer tunes, playing sets between bands. Looking forward to the lakefront open air vibes. See you there!" – DJ Nico

DJ Nico has been collecting music since she was 16, frequenting record fairs in legion halls growing up in Toronto. This started a lifelong obsession with learning about artists and music scenes through books and film, exploring DIY zine culture, along with collecting vintage furniture, ephemera, vinyl, cassettes, and CDs.

Nico hosts a monthly radio show called Girl About Town broadcasting on Totally Wired Radio (London, UK) and The Face Radio (Brooklyn, NY). She started in radio by hosting and producing the Vinyl from the Crypt radio show on University of Toronto’s station CIUT 89.5FM. She has programmed shows for WFMU’s Rock n Soul Radio, Boss Radio ’66, and Soho Radio London.

On the first Saturdays of each month, you can find DJ Nico at The Piston Bar for her 60s soul dance party “With It” now in its 12th year. She welcomes local and visiting guest selectors from around the world.
