Tim Kerr & Mike Carroll's Poison 13 debut album from 1984 due for reissue

The rippin' 1984 garage punk debut album from Austin's Poison 13 is being reissued by Red Parakeet Records on June 5th. Now available for pre-order!

Here's the scoop from Tim Kerr...

"Poison 13 started when Mike asked me if I would help him start a band. The first song we wrote together was One Step Closer. I was the music, he was the words. We were going to play once and it was going to be his night since it was his band. It kept going. This was the first record and came out around the same time as Lime Spiders and the Nomads first. It was all done in one night with Spot at the controls . It's out on vinyl again thanks to Joe at Red Parakeet (smile).  It's up for pre-sale. You can get it at RedParakeetRecords.com."

Red Parakeet Records are very excited to reissue the 1984 debut album by Poison 13 on vinyl for the first time in over 40 years. This exclusive reissue is available on black or splatter vinyl in a beautiful gatefold jacket with photography by Pat Blashill. Includes inner sleeve with the original handwritten lyrics by Mike Carroll, and brand-new liner notes by Tim Kerr.

Reissue artwork prepared by Aaron Tanner. Vinyl mastering by Sean Glonek at SRG studios, and lacquers cut by Scott Hull at Masterdisk. Records pressed at Gotta Groove Records in Cleveland, OH.

Happy 70th Birthday Tim Kerr!

Raising a glass to musician and visual artist Tim Kerr on his 70th! Here's an interview and clips from his new Up Around The Sun album Water Valley.

Writes Tim Kerr...

Today I turn 70 SEVENTY! The line from Old Friends ( Simon & Garfunkel), keeps playing in my head ..... "how terribly strange to be 70" .....

There is a lot of travel coming up this year but between the state of the U.S. right now with the rest of the world , and my health issues at the moment ( annoying but not stopping me), I am hoping that we WILL get to travel . I am really looking forward to Japan again in October. Before that there is music and art in L.A. (mid May school murals and music), New Orleans (first weekend of June), and Lilydale (end of July). I have, and have had a rare skin cancer on my right side for years called mycosis fungoides that got worse and now painful the last half of last year, and then pancreatitis on top of that at the end of last year, so its been a balancing act of treatments going into this year. Getting old is cool but sorta sucks too (big smile)

Still sliding when I can on water and cement , painting most every day , and playing acoustic "wooden music" with friends. Super excited about the Kneeboards with Picnic. This time next year I will have a book coming out on Akashic which I am honored and grateful for the opportunity . I have been told that the Big Boys doc is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so fingers crossed . Joe and Andrew nailed down a great story line and what I have seen footage wise looks good. Poison 13's first LP will be a reissue on vinyl in a couple of months on Laundromat Records. As I have said many times before , as much as I have gotten to see and do , I hope I haven't seen the best thing yet . I wave the flag Outlier proudly that I have been called and as always John Coltrane! John Coltrane!! John Coltrane!!! Still with Beth as it should be . Hug and celebrate your friends and chosen family while they are here NOW.

Here are links if you might want any art from me or music that I am a part of ..... you will be supporting good friends/chosen family of mine , and me if you choose to do so (smile) One foot in front of the other.70! Here we go ....

Jack O' Fire vs. Joy Division

Jack O' Fire's harp-enhanced transformation of Joy Division's "No Love Lost" into a blues standard is quite impressive.
