Jonathan Lethem's broad range shown in new collection due in September

Jonathan Lethem's new collection of short fiction, A Different Kind Of Tension – out September 23 – should appeal to The Buzzcocks fan demographic.

Here's the scoop from Jonathan...

I’m writing to let you know about this new book, which is published in September. It’s different from any book I’ve written, since it covers my whole creative life. The earliest stories were written in the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s. The newest include a long new story called “The Red Sun School of Thoughts” which I think is one of the best things I’ve ever done, written last year, and published nowhere except in this volume. The rest represent the decades between.

Responses have been gratifying so far.

Getting to publish a “New and Selected Stories” is a wild privilege, all the more so now that story collections have become more rare.

My publisher has done a superb job with this book, and though I won’t be able to tour extensively (there’ll be one big launch party in Brooklyn, another in LA) I want to do what I can to support it— and that means trying to persuade you to make a pre-order.

You can find several ways on the front page of my site: https://jonathanlethem.com/.

(Pre-orders, I’ve gathered, are the key to everything. We used to live in a world where you hoped people would buy a book once they knew it existed. Now we live in a world where you have to get people to buy a book in order to get anyone to know it exists…)

The following interview clips have nothing to do with "A Different Kind of Tension" but they each reveal something about the author you may not have known.
