Hailing from Detroit, Shadow Show is an uncompromising power trio that combines elements of 60’s garage-psychedelia into a 21st century modern pop-art incarnation. Sleek and spellbinding, the music sweeps you up into frenetic grooves and dazzling harmonies. Their music pushes the boundaries of what can be, yet remains deeply rooted in the raw, untouchable Detroit sound. 

Three years ago, Shadow Show released their debut album, “Silhouettes,” in the US (Burger Records) and UK (Stolen Body Records). Since then, they have dedicated themselves to writing, arranging, and producing their epic masterpiece, “Fantasy Now!”, while occasionally taking breaks for full length US, UK, and EU tours, as well as obtaining support dates with bands like Automatic, Death Valley Girls, The Nude Party, and the 5.6.7.8’s, to name a few. “Fantasy Now!” is a huge step forward from their debut LP, reaching a more ambitious Sgt. Peppery psychedelic vision that includes swirling pop melodies, fuzz guitar hooks, flutes, tympani, backwards surprise twists, and a magical medieval a capella interlude. 

Shindig Magazine says Shadow Show "transport the listener down a spiral into the mind's eye.” AllMusic praises their "kaleidoscopic explosion of tremolo guitars and mod pop vocal harmonies,” and YouTube user KEVIN_USA1980 commented "These songs, those harmonies and their stylish sensibilities defy all reasonable expectations after hearing them simply described as Detroit Garage Rock." The band has recently completed a USA tour, and full USA and European dates are being booked for Spring 2024. 

Shadow Show’s transcendental triumph, “Fantasy Now!” was written, recorded, and produced by Shadow Show in Detroit, MI, with the exception of “Aunt Maizy,” recorded live in London, UK. Mastered by Warren Defever (Third Man Records, His Name Is Alive). The album will be released worldwide February 16, 2024 on Little Cloud Records (US) and Stolen Body Records (UK).

Fumaça Preta returns with Pepas

Here's the scoop...
Fumaça Preta strikes back with their long awaited third album, Pepas (out now on Bristol's Stolen Body Records). A genre busting, gut quivering, psychotropic, metallurgic goliath drawing from a vast range of unknown genres such as fê fê fê, dem bow and merengada, crushed into their very own signature style: tropical psych punk freakout. The band even indulge their collective life long love of classic hip hop as well as their essential dabbling in a parallel fuzz dimension.

Blending, twisting and demolishing all musical boundaries, this album will defy those trying to classify it as they try to come up with a label that embodies a fairly unusual musical palette ranging from the incessant wild beats coming out of an impenetrable jungle all the way to the most avant-garde futuristic sounds generated by abused machines and everything imaginable - and certainly unimaginable - in between.

Complementing and contrasting the bizarre, mind-mangling lyrics the band are known for is a hard hitting passionate diatribe against the troubles in vocalist Alex Figueira's native Venezuela, and the intense feeling of powerlessness and anger derived from it.

Much of the album was recorded in the elusive and covert Barracão Sound studio in Amsterdam. With its devout analogue philosophy, vintage equipment and a unique working environment this studio shaped the sound of the new album.

Further sonic delights were formed in the basement of musique concrète composer, Françoise Lafouche. Using home made electronics that have somehow never left Lafouche's Catacombic Labarotoria Sonora, like the mind-blowing "Modulatore ad Anello", the band added some clangorous dissonance to the mix.

Fumaca Preta commissioned Colombian artist Mateo Rivano, known for his work with Colombian avant-garde cumbia institutions Frente Cumbiero, Los Pirañas, Rompe Rayo and The Meridian Brothers, to produce a three dimensional artwork for the album cover depicting himself engulfed in an acrid red mist spewing from his every orifice. The massive art installation made out of dozens of different types of hand painted cardboard, took two months to complete and displays the same obsession with detail that the band endures during their recording process.
