Previously unissued Morells music surfaces on new CD compilation

Sound Asleep's new 22-track Morells CD "You're Gonna Hurt Yourself" includes 16 unreleased songs cut in 1984 along with D. Clinton Thompson's singles sides.

Here's the scoop...

Springfield, Missouri's legendary Morells released their classic debut LP "Shake And Push" in 1982. The same year and in 1984 they recorded new tracks that could´ve been a follow up to that record. For some reason they remained unreleased, and when Lou Whitney passed away in 2014 Eric Shuchmann took over Lou´s studio and found the tapes. Now, they have been transferred and remixed by Eric and made ready for release. As a bonus you get six tracks from D. Clinton Thompson's solo singles for the first time available on CD.

The Morells' "You're Gonna Hurt Yourself" was released by the Swedish label Sound Asleep Records run by Jerker Emanuelson and current celebrating 30 years in business. Better get a copy quick, it won't be around long.

Check out the track listing followed by The Morells' video for "Red's" along with some footage from a 1982 show outside the Chicago Tribune, 1983 show at the Blue Note in Columbia, MO and D. Clinton Thompson's single B-side "I Feel Good" which could've easily been an A-side for other artists.

RIP Lou Whitney III, 1943-2014

The Skeletons and Morells mainman Lou Whitney died earlier today after a battle with cancer.
"If you can only have one electric guitar, better make it a Telecaster. Because you can make a Tele sound like a Gibson, but you can't make a Gibson sound like a Tele. And, you can fight your way out of a bar with one." – Lou Whitney
