Eli 'Paperboy' Reed's new album, "Getting There," produced by Swamp Dogg!

Eli 'Paperboy' Reed called upon the studio expertise of producer Swamp Dogg for his new album Getting There... he should've asked him to design the sleeve too!

Here's the scoop from Yep Roc Records...

Yep Roc is proud to announce Eli Paperboy Reed's new album, 'Getting There' – produced by the one and only Swamp Dogg! – will be out on September 11th. The first single, “Getting There,” is out now — and the full album is available for pre-order right here: https://elipaperboyreed.lnk.to/gettingthere

Reed says, "We recorded the album at Restoration Sound in Brooklyn, and making this record with Swamp was one of the great experiences of my musical life. It’s soul music, country music, gospel music, rhythm & blues — all the stuff I love — filtered through where I am now and guided by one of the true originals." Check out Eli's behind-the-scenes clip right here.

Listen to the title track “Getting There” following the tracklisting below.

On his latest collection, Getting There, Eli Paperboy Reed explores a more grown-up kind of love, contemplating what it takes for two people to go the distance through good times and bad. Produced by legendary R&B iconoclast Swamp Dogg, the album is a joyful dose of timeless soul and roots music, but it’s also a deeply mature work of lyrical craftsmanship, one that reckons with the vagaries of love in the long term as it illuminates the myriad throughlines connecting soul, gospel, and R&B music with folk, country, and rock and roll. Add it all up and you’ve got an infectious take on the work that follows the fireworks, an ode to the extraordinary endurance of the ordinary, everyday love that makes the world go around.

Eli Paperboy Reed curates Boston 60s soul comp, The Skippy White Story

The 15-track selection of rare Boston soul and gospel – assembled by Eli Paperboy Reed – is out October 28 via Yep Roc Records.

Here's the scoop...

Specializing in R&B, soul, and gospel music, Skippy White opened his first record store in Boston in 1961. Along with his radio show on WILD-AM, they served as a resource and beacon for R&B and soul until 2019, when his last store closed. Watch WBZ-TV's Lisa Hughes report on the closing.

On October 29, Yep Roc Records will release The Skippy White Story: Boston Soul 1961-1967, a 15-track compilation that pays tribute to the soul music of Boston and the legendary record store owner, turned label owner, and curator who captured the music on tape.

For decades, fans and musicians from the Boston area and beyond would come to his store for the best and latest in R&B, soul, and gospel music. In addition to the stores, Skippy’s radio show began recording music by local Boston artists to capture the music by these great musicians.

An avid record collector, the set was curated and produced by Eli Paperboy Reed. Culled from obscure R&B, soul, and gospel 45s from the early 1960s, many of these recordings are from Eli’s private collection of 45s and acetates and features extensive liner notes by Peter Guralnick, Peter Wolf, Eli Paperboy Reed, and co-producer Noah Schaffer.

Each provides context for the music, the time, and the impact that Skippy White, his stores, and the music he discovered and released had on those who frequented his stores, loved the music he released, and were influenced by it all. You can pre-order a copy of the Skippy White Story right here. Check the tracklisting below.

As part of the album launch, Eli Paperboy Reed will be hosting Boston Soul – Live! at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA on October 29th. Boston Soul - Live at The Sinclair! Reed will be leading a crack band playing some Boston Soul classics with a host of guest performers including Dennis Taylor, Ryan Lee Crosby, Sax Gordon, Joyce Crayton of The Crayton Singers and much more. The guest MC will be the man of the hour himself, legendary record store owner and radio host Skippy White's! Afterwards the Soulelujah DJs will take over playing Soul 45s all night long. It will be a night to remember, so don't miss it! Get tickets right here.
