Ayal Senior releasing "Ora," an entrancing companion to "Az Yashir"

Ayal Senior's "Ora" – out Wednesday via Medusa Editions – came out of a collaboration with Kurt Newman & Andrew Furlong.

Here's the scoop...
The songs that became Ora were written as a companion & follow up to the 'Az Yashir' songbook.

These songs were a joy to write & record among long-time & trusted friends & collaborators. They seemed to appear at ease as themselves, falling from a dream, transmitted from some place with dancing blue forms.  The core live unit of Kurt Newman (gtr/pedal-steel) and Andrew Furlong (bass) are warmly augmented here by Blake Howard on drums & Jay Anderson on additional percussion.

We hope you dig it as much as we enjoyed making it. Thank you for listening!

Ayal Senior & Kurt Newman's 'Az Yashir' release show @ Tranzac, Sunday

Ayal Senior and Kurt Newman will be joined by David Sait & Saturn City –Nick Flanagan's sick – today from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Here's the scoop...

'Az Yashir' developed out of songs that 'Matthew 'Doc' Dunn and I had been writing & playing in the Southern Comfort Room of Toronto's Tranzac Club, & with our band, Sacred Lamp. Out of those, more songs kept revealing themselves. Looking back after two & a half years of covid, they seem like golden hours, a strange calm before the storm. These are devotional blues & space rags. For me, they reflect a time of change, loss & redemption through the sea of sound. Recorded by Sandro Perri on April 8, 2018 & Mixed by Harris Newman. Thank you for listening.
