AD HOC #85 – Memory of Light

w/ filmmaker Luka Kuplowsky and The Cluttertones, in person!

U of T's Innis Town Hall, Innis College (2 Sussex Ave)

Thursday, January 15, 7 pm to 10 PM

Synopsis: Rob Clutton has been composing a piece of music for a while. A long held "obsession". Memory of Light, part observational documentary and part experimental-concert film, places the viewer within the eccentric rehearsal process and ecstatic performance stylings of The Cluttertones, a Toronto chamber jazz quartet. Roman poetry, phytograms, friendly bickering and otherworldly sounds.

"I don't know what's going on...just trying to go through the motions and see what happens."

AD HOC (Stephen Broomer, Madi Piller, Jim Shedden, Bart Testa) aims to rethink what an experience of cinema can be. We seek to reposition historical landmarks and buried treasures within the on-going tradition of experimental and other non- commercial modes of filmmaking, drawing on work from Toronto, throughout Canada, and internationally. Within these parameters, we aspire to diversity in programming, as well as to multimedia and interdisciplinary screening events that bring together varied communities.
