Following the success of the first Ethiopiques 7" Box, which sold out its limited pressing run for Record Store Day 2017, Heavenly Sweetness tapped series mastermind Francis Falceto for a suitable follow up. Francis plunged into his impressive collection of Ethiopian records to select six singles/EPs to re-release for Ethiopiques 7" Box, Volume 2.
Along with well-known greats from the golden age of Ethiopian music like Mahmoud Ahmed, Alemayéhu Eshété, Ali Mohamed Birra, there are also outstanding contributions from Muluquen Meléssé, Alayew Mesfin and Seyoum Gebreyes. The box serves as a tribute to the Ethiopian music producer Ali Tango, who originally recorded most of these EPs.
Each of the six seven-inch singles in the box comes in a sleeve reproducing the original Ethiopian artwork along with 6 stickers and a poster. There were only 2,000 copies released so grab it while you can. Listen to a few of the songs following the track listing below.
