The first time I heard
My Morning Jacket's latest album
Circuital, the song Holdin' On To Black Metal immediately stood out for some reason. It definitely didn't sound like a typical wineskin jam from the Bonnaroo bad boys and then it hit me – it's actually a sneaky re-write of
Kwan Jai & Jit Sriprajan's E-Saew Tam Punha Huajai (Advice Column for Love Troubles, Part 1) copped off of the
Sublime Frequencies Thai funk archival collection
Siamese Soul: Thai Pop Spectacular Vol. 2, 1960s-1980s. When played back to back, it shouldn't be too difficult to spot the striking similarities.
