The release party is at The Supermarket (268 Augusta) with a first ever solo set by the incredible KC Roberts, (which is going to be ridiculous good). Not only will we be filming this performance, but The JSFew will be a special expanded band:
Jessica Stuart - kotos, guitar, lead vocals
Liam Smith - double bass, backing vocals
Tony Nesbitt-Larking - drums, backing vocals
Ryan Granville-Martin - percussion, backing vocals
Jocelyn Barth - backing vocals

Without gushing too much, I just want to say how much I appreciate everyone's support over the years, and I'm so very proud of this new album, musically, lyrically, artistically. The truth is that life is a challenge for us all, even with roofs over our heads. We need to share experiences with each other, and celebrate when we have the chance. Let's make this night beautiful together, lovies. xoxo jessica

Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band discovers dub on Planet Lam
Planet Lam is slated for release October 21. Watch the Boiler Room performance followed by an album preview. |
"The fact that Studio Lam has become a musical focal point for city of Bangkok, has inevitably had an impact on the band itself, and this is reflected in the presence of different vibes and styles of the LP. The sound of Planet Lam has been shaped by late night jamming gigs, home made ya-dong, run-ins with the police, and the swapping of ideas with like minded local musicians and artists."

Shovels & Rope launch Little Seeds @ The Phoenix, Tuesday
Little Seeds is Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst's most personal album yet. Photo by Curtis Wayne Millard |
Here's the New West Records press release for Shovels & Rope's Little Seeds...
The 12-song Little Seeds, produced by Michael Trent at the South Carolina couple’s home studio in Charleston, follows 2014’s Swimmin’ Time and 2012’s O’ Be Joyful; the latter earned Shovels & Rope the AMA Song of the Year (for “Birmingham”) and Emerging Artist of the Year. Last year’s Busted Jukebox, Volume 1 was a collaborative collection of covers featuring such top talents as the Milk Carton Kids, Lucius, JD McPherson and Butch Walker.
On the new release, Michael Trent and partner Cary Ann Hearst play all the instruments and penned the material, which range from stomping rockers to delicate acoustic-based numbers. Many of Little Seeds’ finely crafted and reflective new songs – completed in the late summer of 2015 – are drawn from tumultuous events experienced by the couple over the course of the last two years.
“There were two major changes that happened at the same time,” Hearst says. “We found out we were pregnant, and at the same time Michael’s parents had been living with us, because his father is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. Those two things, having the baby and facing the reality that our parents were aging, made this weird, awesome circle of humanity that really just took us out. I guess we were in the crosshairs of human existence.” Trent continues, “We started putting this record together right after the baby was born. Every spare moment I had I was in the studio doing my best to work around the cries, and Cary would have to sneak up and do her parts when the baby was asleep. It’s a funny thing trying to make a rock n roll record with a sleeping baby in the house.”
Hearst adds, “As we were finishing the record and making the final decisions about what to include in

DJ Shadow @ The Phoenix, Saturday
Following the smashing success of The Mountain Will Fall, DJ Shadow (returning to Toronto to spin at The Phoenix on Saturday) has announced the release of a 20th Anniversary re-release of Entroducing in a special ENDTROSPECTIVE Edition, due October 28. You can pre-order the 6LP vinyl box, 3CD digipak versions and limited edition 12" remixes directly from DJ Shadow's site right here.
Says our man Shadow...
“As a music lover, my favorite records always have some hallmarks of an era, but also sound as if they could have been made almost any time within a 20 year time span. I’ve always felt that as someone who buys a lot of records and sits there and studies them and kind of vibes off them, I also feel like once you put something out into the world, it can be discovered later. That happened so much with Endtroducing – 10 or 15 years down the road, people were discovering it.”
The deluxe CD/LP collection features the original album as well as demos, alternate takes, live versions, and expanded liner notes from an interview conducted by Eliot Wilder, the author of DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing… (33 1/3), along with never-before-released photographs by Brian "B+" Cross and Phil Knott. In addition, the package features 12 exclusive remixes, produced by Prince Paul, Adrian Younge Hudson Mohawke, Daedelus and other forward looking artists, will also be available as the standalone digital album, Entroducing Re-Emagined. Happy Birthday Cut Chemist!
Cut Chemist takes you on a trip through his vast collection with some special guests along for the ride below. |
For over 20 years, Cut Chemist has toured the globe searching for music. Now the time has come to share that collection to the public every 1st and 3rd Saturday. The show will feature different segments to tackle different genres such as cassette culture new wave and rap demos, deep funk 45s, world beats and even contemporary artists and live guests.
“I’ve been missing the ‘party in a box’ feel of mix shows that used to exist 20 and 30 years ago like NYCs Red Alert show or the LA and Bay Area’s Wake Up Show. This is my chance to bring it back and share all the great music and talent I’ve run across over the years.” – Cut Chemist
A Stable Sound Episode 1 is a celebration for the man of the hour, always sweet, never sour and YO! Cut Chemist sure knows how to throw himself a birthday party. Guest appearances on this one include Thes One (PUTS), Hymnal, Marvski, Gaslamp Killer, the Beat Junkies and a gang of Cut's favorite selectors plus an interview with Mark the 45 King! Enjoy.
