Nick Waterhouse launches Never Twice @ The Horseshoe, Thursday

Soul crooner Leon Bridges appears on the track Katchi off Nick Waterhouse's third album for Innovative Leisure.
With Never Twice, Nick Waterhouse returned to his original collaborator, producer Michael McHugh (Black Lips, Ty Segall, Allah-Las) well-known for his use of vintage gear.  Once he had McHugh on board, Nick began cold-calling his favorite players, all of whom miraculously said "yes."

Bay Area multi-instrumentalist/composer Bob Kenmotsu (Jack McDuff, Pat Martino) contributed flute, Tom Waits and Elvis Costello collaborator Ralph Carney added some sax, first call San Francisco B-3 boss Wil Blades on organ and a virtual who's who of muso legends on horns, bass and guitar along with Grammy-nominated Leon Bridges lending his voice to the song "Katchi" which you can hear below.

The first video released from Never Twice is for the mid-tempo boogaloo swinger "Old Place" shot by Emma Pollard at Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace some 25 miles north of Palm Springs off Route 62 near Joshua Tree National Park. Now a popular barbecue honky-tonk hang out, you may remember Pappy & Harriet's as the cantina in The Cisco Kid and Judge Roy Bean and numerous other western films and television series filmed during the 40s and 50s.

Check out the "Old Place" clip and followed by the new video for L.A. Turnaround – not the Billy Joe Shaver tune – shot by Toronto's very busy Laura-Lynn Petrick who also did a Super-8 preview video for the Allah-Las' Calico Review (along with a tour doc) and did the tiki-torch enhanced cover photo for the forthcoming Summerland full-length debut album by Thunder Bay's Coleman Hell out October 14.

One final note: You might wanna grab the limited-run vinyl version of Never Twice with the alternate sleeve artwork that's being sold at the merch table on Nick's current tour. There were only 500 copies pressed so it'll be gone soon.
