Belgium's bad boys invade Toronto

They're now grown-ass men of course but first generation punks The Kids – who formed the group as teenagers in Belgium way back in 1976 – will be making a rare Toronto appearance on Friday (December 10) with the Brutal Knights, Molested Youth and Ottawa power pop crew White Wires opening the show at The Garrison (1197 Dundas West).
Although The Kids broke up in 1985 after releasing one classic album (their 1978 self-titled debut for Philips) and five so-so follow-up recordings, founding frontman Ludo Mariman reunited the group in 1996 with original bassist Danny De Haes (who hadn't yet turned 13 when Ludo put the  group together from the remnants of Crash) and longtime guitarist Luk Van de Poel with Frankie Saenen taking over for original drummer Eddy De Haes. For most of the past decade, the Kids have been bringing their Belgian brand of yobbo punk – inspired as much by Eddie & The Hot Rods and the Ramones as the Sex Pistols – to appreciative audiences around the world. Check out this entertaining clip of their first appearance on Belgian television from 1978:
